A re-entry plan is more than just "where can I apply for a job?".
Just like preparing for prison or jail, many people wait until the last minute before sentencing - or worse, don't think about re-entry until it is about to happen.
Don't make the mistake of waiting until your release date is a few weeks away to start thinking about what happens next.
If you have a loved one already incarcerated, any level of pre-planning for re-entry is better than none. We work with clients and provide re-entry services from prison or county jail re-entry programs.
Our re-entry plans are typically broken up into 3 (three) sections:
Before Incarceration
Understanding your current financial situation, your charges, your family support system, and other aspects of your life, our team will help to build a written plan before you are incarcerated. This includes considerations that most people will not think of such as topics around financial power of attorney, how to keep your credit score up while incarcerated, ensuring that you understand your existing financial obligations (car loan, apartment lease, even automated online subscriptions), and more.
We ask the right questions to help to understand your situation, goals and objectives and work to address potential issues or opportunities before it's too late.
During Incarceration
We will help you focus on using time while incarcerated to be as productive as possible - from educational and training opportunities that are available during incarceration to your own efforts for self-improvement and future employment.
Your time in jail or prison may be (somewhat) boring. It's critical to go in with a goal and structure in place. Too many people waste time playing cards and watching TV, while they could be working on pro-active actions that will help them after they leave jail or prison.
After Incarceration
If you have done the work before and during your time in jail or prison, the actual exiting and re-entry into the community is less stressful because you have a plan that has been in development for months or years.
After release, our team is still here to provide assistance with targeted job searches, resume building, interview skills, residence planning, general re-integration questions, and more.
It's critical that you use your time while incarcerated to be productive.
It's never too late to start.
Even if you have a family member who is currently incarcerated without a re-entry plan, we can help. Contact us here for a free, no-obligation phone consultation.
